Designed in 1931 for British army officers stationed in India who kept cracking their crystals playing polo, its case rotates 180° on a sliding frame to fully hide the dial behind a smooth steel back plate. Nearly a century later, it remains the only Art Deco icon born from a purely engineering solution to a practical problem.
